Thank you everyone who has visited and followed this blog and its predecessor (Washerman’s Dog) since 2010!
I have run out of steam and will be taking time off to think of how and whether I should continue to share my love of South Asian music. Of all types.
But as of today, Harmonium is closed and there will be no further posts.
Dhanyawaad. Shukriya. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the years of quality music and information.

Hey JP, Your last encouragement is a good one! I probably will but with no regularity. Peace bro.
This is sad. The blog will exist on the web or ‘ll be deleted too?
Hi Mohamad Alyas Gondal, thank you the sentiment. I’ll probably keep it up.
So sorry to hear that, I have been a regular follower of this & your previous blog also. Thank you ever so much for all the marvelous posts & varied & eclectic music you have shared over the years.
The internet has certainty changed since 2010 when you first started & now with AI picking up steam, it will be exciting to see where music goes.
All the very best in your future endeavors.
Asli Jat
Asli Jat! how are you? Thanks for all your comments and encouragements over the years. You’ve been a loyal fellow traveller. Thanks!
Doing good thanks, just keeping up with life takes up so much time. Waiting for retirement so I can pursue my varied interests in music & film.

So sorry to hear this, your site was a wonderful resource for those of us studying raga based music
Hey thanks Mark! appreciate you letting me know! Keep strong.
Really sad to hear this. I have been an avid follower of your blog and have learned so much from both Washerman’s Dog and Harmonium. Hope to hear from you again at some point in future.
With thanks for all the wonderful music and information that you shared with us over the years
Best wishes
Sutirth
Hi Sutirth, thanks for the patronage, comments and encouragement over the years. Really appreciate it. Nate
So sad. all good things come to an end. I first Came across Guptaji’s Indian Raga which is near defunct after his death, then the excellent site of Tawfiq and now your excellent site for us appreciators of good Indian Classical Music.
Hope you revive some day
Thank you so much for sharing all this wonderful music!! I found your blog only recently, while researching the wonderful Nahid Akhtar and her work with M. Ashraf. Your post on her (and her peers) is one of the best-written articles I’ve found to date. I hope all this remains available on the web, because I’m still exploring! There is so much more to discover….
All your work here is deeply appreciated! All the best to you, and good luck going forward!! Cheers!!
Thanks Jay, sorry the timing didn’t turn out so good, but I appreciate you comments. BTW, may I ask of your interest in Nahid and M Ashraf?
Of course! and please pardon the slow reply….
I mainly know their work from the compilations “The Sound Of Wonder!” and “Life Is Dance!” The songs I like most all seem to come from the combination of Nahid, M. Ashraf, and/or the fantastic Tafo brothers. Looking for more info on M. Ashraf led me to your site, and here we are! Nahid’s voice is amazing! As a rock/psych musician I love all the fuzz guitar work too. My favorite Nahid tunes so far are “Dilbar Dilbara”, “Life Hai Kuch Dinon Ki”, and “Naughty Boy”. The exploration continues!!
Great to know. I spent lots of time in Pakistan and love this music as well. check this out.
PL CONTINUE SOMEHOW FOR THE SAKE OF MUSICLOVERS
Thanks for the endorsement. Much appreciated.
You’ve introduced me to so much music. Thank you.
You’re welcome Matthew. I appreciate your comment and your visits to Harmonium throughout the years. Thank you.
